Heidi Olson

Artist Statement:

I am Heidi Olson. I am a Contemporary Romanticism Artist who employs Mixed Media for my paintings.  I use acrylic paint, acrylic ink, spray paint, charcoal, water soluble graphite, oils and more.

My inspiration comes from my relationships with people and nature. After 8 months in the NICU, our baby boy, Archer passed away. So much of what I paint reflects my Archie-bug. He is my hope, the reason I turned to art for peace, and my why. I want to offer peace and hope through the beauty I create with my paintings by intertwining nature, animals and the human experience.

My process starts with an acrylic underpainting—this includes acrylic inks and acrylic paint. I then add spray paint to add more depth, texture and layers to the piece. Next, I draw the piece onto the canvas, using water soluble graphite, charcoal, acrylic markers and other mark making tools. My paintings are then completed with oils.

Hope is something we all need; it is a deep internal drive we strive to find in life. My goal as an artist is to inspire others who see my pieces to feel hope in the life they choose to live.

Artist Bio:

Heidi Olson, a lover of the outdoors, grew up in a small town in the West. Being amongst the mountains, animals, and the beauty of varying seasons has inspired Heidi’s art from a young age. Heidi’s innovations began with the rock animals she’d assemble and paint as a child, to the mixed media paintings she now creates.  Heidi has received her certificate of completion through the Milan Art Institute’s renown Mastery Program. This program has helped propel her art career forward.

Heidi Olson Art produces original contemporary romanticism paintings that use mixed media (acrylic, spray paint, oils, charcoal, etc.) to depict the personification of nature revealing the human truths of love, comfort, safety and that warm fuzzy feeling a hug gives.

Heidi’s prolific studio is open year-round. She has a majestic view of the mountains outside her window to inspire her. Heidi is working on collections involving horses, woodland creatures and angel statues.
